PRESIDENT PENS
The National Institute of Engineering
is a 'cosmopolitan' academic community attracting students from all over
India. This institution has developed the concept of NIE family involving
the management, Alumni, Staff and Students with the sole object of providing
the atmosphere of oneness culture and progress. Presently, about 2400 students
have enrolled for bachelor of Engineering, Master's and research programmes.
All these programmes are supported by about 140 academic staff along with
state of the art laboratories, workshops, libraries and other infrastructure.
Despite many challanges that NIE had to confront
with over the past six decades, it has stayed true to its founding principles
of imparting quality technical education and motive of service to the society
which is made possible only because of the unstinted cooperation and active
selfless service of the successive manaegments, dedicated service by its
staff, desire of its students to train themselves to reach a high degree
of technical competence. All these are responsible for the progress of NIE
from year to year which has resulted in raising the institution to the level
of the required standards as prescribed which again has resulted in raising
the instution to the level of the status of Academic Autonomy and thus it
has now become an Autonomous College.
In commemoration of the golden jubilee, Golden Jubilee Complex has been
constructed in a vast tract of land with plenty of greenery. With a view
to encourage our sportsmen and the other younger generation and with the
courtesy of NIE Foundation, Diamond Jubilee Indoor Sports Complex of International
standards is made available. Various Centres of Excellence like centre for
Research & Consultancy (CRC), Building and Fire Research Centre (BFRC),
Centre for Renewable Energy & sustainable Technologies (CREST), Centre
for Energy Management & Test Systems for Electrical Apparatus (CEMATEA),
etc., have been established to promote research activities. NIE also made
collaboration with many foregin universities and agencies to enhance global
academic participation. I hope that the sincere efforts by the NIE family
to bring this institution to the present stage will inspire the next generation
to strive towards achieving greater heights and celebrate platinum Jubilee
and Centenary with pride.
